I was so happy to see Letters from Crickhollow in my inbox today, Maribeth! I’ve been feeling a similar need to reign in the social media mindlessness, so this has encouraged me to make more of an effort to make room for the things that are most valued to me.
It blesses my heart to know you were excited to see something from my newsletter! And yes, while social media can be a valuable tool (especially for us writers), it so easily crowds out the things that are more important and eternal. Praying for you as you evaluate your own use of it!
It's so good to hear from you! That snow was something else, wasn't it?! I don't think I will ever get over "substack imposter syndrome" so it's nice to hear I'm not the only one. God is not through with your story by any means. How wonderful to take a "chapter" to focus on restoring what was lost. Hugs from CenLa!
The snow was INCREDIBLE! Poor Molly hated it (Casey handed her a snowball and she screamed bloody murder), but Casey and I had so much fun. I suffered a life-changing injury during the ice storm of 2021, so it was wonderful to experience a kinder version of winter weather and make some new, happier memories.
Ugh I remember deleting instagram for about a year because I scrolled way too much. 😣 When I redownloaded it before my wedding, the uncontrollable impulse was gone and it’s been so much easier to manage ever since! You are on the right track! 🥰 I’ll continue to keep your family in my prayers! I’m so happy you have found some writing time, I hope it continues to help in this transitional time! 🫶🏻💛
And oh! I forgot to add, I LOVE Emily Henry, she made me realize romance COULD be a book genre I actually can enjoy! Beach Read and Book Lovers both have my whole heart 😊
Thank you so much, Jamie!! Right now I've resolved to just update my Instagram at the beginning of each month, with a recap of the previous month's adventures. I'm still considering how to use it in the future--maybe just dedicate it to my writing and share updates about Substack, Cultivating articles, etc.? Still pondering that one.
Thank you so much for your prayers! They're deeply appreciated!

Absolutely delicious, Maribeth! How glad I am that you are writing again and from such a fierce depth of goodness. Blessings on your 4 am risings!
Thank you so much, friend!!
Beautiful! :)
Thank you, Hannah! (And thanks for the restack!)
you're welcome 🤗
